Effective cutting tool for installing sunroof

The conventional cutting tool for cutting the steel roof of car is by using the gas cutter or plasma cutter. This method is typically used in workshop.

Plasma cutter

The plasma arc cutting process uses electrically conductive gas to transfer energy from an electrical power source through a plasma cutting torch to the material being cut. The plasma gases include argon, hydrogen, nitrogen and mixtures, plus air and oxygen.

However, the temperature of the plasma arc can melts the surrounding metal and pierces through the workpiece while the high velocity gas flow removes the molten material from the bottom of the cut.

In addition to high energy radiation (Ultraviolet and visible) generated by plasma arc cutting, the intense heat of the arc creates substantial quantities of fumes and smoke from vaporizing metal in the cuts..

As a result of the intense heat that can melts the surrounding metal, some opt for another effective and safe tool for cutting metal especially the car roof for the installation of the sun roof.

The Electric Nibbler is guaranteed to be safe and more precise in cutting without damaging the surrounding metals and without welding and re- paint works.

My brother once was planning to install a custom sun roof on his ride but he was worried when he was told at the workshop that they will have to use gas cutter to cut the roof that will weaken the metal structures and will need re paint work. This adds the costs of modification.

But we were surprised to see that mechanical specialists and tuners on the Pimp My Ride shows are using the electric nibbler easily.
